new physical dimension for Jerk JE

Post by gieschef »

It is practice to calculate the differential of acceleration. For example when analyzing Crash pulses. This physical dimension is called 'jerk' or german 'Ruck'.
We Need to have this dimension available in ISO channel coding, our proposal for this is 'JE'.

Dear Frank,

this sound reasonable to me. The "JE" abbreviation is also not occupied in the ISO 13499 standard so far.
The only alternative could be Jolt -> JO
We may leave this to the native spekers to decide which naming ist typical in engineering context.

To add this finally to the tables the SI unit will then be set to m/(s*s*s).

As this is for translational movement: Do we also need "Angular Jerk" (AJ)?

Bye,
Dirk

Hello,
our american collegues confirmed the naming 'Jerk', as well that is the way it is called in our american sled Software.
What about some comments from our native english speaking ISO-MME mebers ?

For the 'angular jerk' we don't have the requirement yet.

Thank you and best regards,

Frank
