Naming of "IR-TRACC" channels in DB

Post by DiVe » Mon Jul 15, 2019 2:42 pm

Dear colleagues,

I would like to have a discussion/decision for the future naming of "IR-TRACC" channels in the database.

Many longnames in the Possible Channel Table (and in the RED B document) do include the text "IR-TRACC".
This has been introduced to mark the channels of this specific sensors in the past.

Nowadays we have different alternative measurement devices available with other technology/naming.
To keep the database free of "advertisements" I would like to change the namings.

The easiest approach will be to remove the text from the naming.
Alternative proposals are welcome.

Kind regards,

Dear colleagues,

as dicussed on the meeting today:
  • The term "IR-TRACC" should be replaced by a general term for this kind of measurement device (Multidimensional Deflection Measurement).
  • The term must also been exchanged in the Chest Deflection figures.
Proposals for the general naming term are welcome.
