Dear Colleagues,
for the QA dummy there exists now a different design that should be used in EuroNCAP
applications in the future (2020).
This design introduces a changed, curved spine and so a changed
Head and Neck position at neck base:
- Forward shift 20 mm,
- Nose up rotation 5.3 degrees
A continuous shoulder liners is introduced.
Also there has been a mass shift from the Pelvis to the Abdomen of about 1.4kg.
All in all the performance of this dummy will be different (belt interaction)
related to the Q10 design used for the R129.
At the moment it is not clear if the qualification procedures will also change.
So we need to decide for a separate FL3 coding for this type of dummy as for ES-2 and ES-2re.
A first proposal from my side (to have a starting point for the discussion) is to change the QA from the R129 design to:
a) QE (E=EuroNCAP, Europe)
b) QN (N=NCAP)
c) QB (
- next letter after "A" in the alphabet and it is not to expected that an 11th year old dummy is released
- same principle as for Q3 -> Q3s = Q3 -> Q4
Any ideas, comment and recommendations are welcome on this topic.
Kind regards,
Dirk

Re: QA-Variant for EuroNCAP 2020
Dear colleagues,
we got some feedback via EuroNCAP (Richard Schram)
and Cellbond:
Next Steps:
For the implementation we could add a comment on the current QA figures with the option to replace the QA
in the code against the finally decided code for the "Q10 EuroNCAP" if this dummy is used.
In the database I can copy over the codes from QA to the new code after the decision for the FL3 code.
Kind regards,
Dirk
we got some feedback via EuroNCAP (Richard Schram)
- they will follow our suggestion for the coding needs
- they supplied some updated information on the dummy variant:
and Cellbond:
- instrumentation options will be the same as for current QA
- they supplied som information on the structural modifications:

- My last information is that KoreaNCAP still use the "old" QA from R129 -> we have 2020 both version of QA in NCAPs -> - QN (N=NCAP) is maybe not the best way
- C-NCAP will start to run MPDB-tests in 2021 -> I try in the moment to clarify if they will use the "old" or the "new" QA -> QE (E=NCAP) is maybe not the best way
Update: feedback from China: they don't use the Q10 in 2021

Decision made on the Task Force Web Meeting:2019-04-11
QB will be used for EuroNCAP variant of Q-10.
Database has been updated by copying the codes from QA to QB.
