Naming of Directories and File Extensions

Post by DiVe »

Dear Colleagues,

recently I have discussed with some users the fact that the directory names in the official ISO MME standard are given in UPPERCASE. Also the file extensions are all given in UPPERCASE (*.MME, *.CHN,*.PHO,...).
Uppercase and lowercase are no problem for MS Windows based systems but for UNIX and LINUX systems. I am not quite sure about MAC OS?
For UNIX based system this could lead to some problems as it is also common to store files with mixed case letters.
We are just inspecting our software tools to force for uppercase file extensions.
May we should have a clear statement in the 2.0 for this?

Bye,
Dirk

Recommendation of the MME TaskForce:

  • Parts of filenames and extensions like the testnumber, which occur several times in the file structure, have to be identical in the usage of upper and lower case letters.

This recommendation will be integrated into MME 1.6.
For some more information see the attached pdf-document.
