Dear Colleagues,
Daimler issued that there is no clear definition regarding the X,Y and Z directions used with a Pedestrian Head Impactor.
- In one publication they found the z-Direction used for the impact direction of the headform.
- I personally and I would suspect most of us may have chosen the X-direction for the impact direction.
In principle the question is if we should use here the original dummy coordinate system and which impact direction the head form impact should simulate:
- if the head impacted with the "face" or the "back of the head" the direction should be called X.
- if the head impacted with the side the impact direction should be called Y.
- if the head impacted with the top the impact direction should be called Z.
For the protection criteria (HIC) the direction doesn't matter. But for the data exchange and the analysis of the acceleration phase and the impact velocity the direction of the channel to be used for the calculation does matter.
Any ideas or suggestions?
We should clarify that in the future figures or the database/channel longname
