Channel Codes for Active Safety Tests

Euro NCAP asked for standardized channel codes for AEB tests.
Therefore, I made a proposal in the attached spreadsheet which is based on the "Test Protocol - AEB Systems, Version 1.1, June 2015" chapter 4.2.
Usually much more signals are measured. Please, feel free to add codes or to propose alternatives.

Hello Sebastioan,
I have the following comments/corrections to your proposal:
  • The channels should not be referenced to the Center of Gravity, because this origin of the reference ccordinate system cannot be realized in the test
  • The positions of VUT and EVT are measured in the test area reference coordinate system: DC -> DS
  • The pedal positions and forces have only one degree of freedom : Direction 1 -> 0
  • For the time event channels I prefer the last proposal in your comments
  • The speed direction is not really defined in the test protocol, could be Resultant(?): X -> R
I have marked the differences to your proposal in Bold/Blue.

In addition we have to discuss the signs of the channels, because the reference ccordinate systems according ISO 8855
in the test-protocol differ from the SAE reference ccordinate systems and also from the CAD/CAE coodinate systems.
Please see page 3 of
http://www.iso-mme.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=491
for the definitions of the coordinate systems and the naming of the test objects.

Best regards

Peter

Hi all,

Volvo Cars fully support the VW proposal.

What we feel that we have problem with is the Coordinate system and notation that is suggested in the EuroNcap AEB test protocol. We follow the SAE-J211 standard.

I would also like to propose that we start a workgroup to rework the EGV standard to meet how the signals are exported as the old standard is not fully compatible.

Hello,
I have created a new eXcel document for the current discussion of ChannelCodes in Active Safety Tests.
Basic information is taken from the EuroNCAP Technical Bulletin 21; viewtopic.php?f=38&t=444

In the attached document a list of abbreviations and coordinate systems are included.
