Proposed Codes

Post by DiVe »

Please find enclosed the current table of ISO Codes for WorldSID 50th measurements.
The Fine Location 3 Coding for the WorldSID has been defined as "WS". For the upcomming 5th percentile the Fine Location 3 Code will be "WF.

Comments and extensions are welcome.

The Coding is intended to be added in the database for V 2.x or may also in an earlier Release (V 1.6?).

There are two systems available to measure the rib deflection of the WS50% - IR-TRACC 1D (current solution) and IR-TRACC 2D (probably future solution). The 1D system measures the deflection between rib bracket and spine box. The 2D system measures the deflection between rib bracket and a moving point in front of the spine box, and the sensor’s rotation about the vertical axis. Both systems are measuring only the same deflection under pure lateral rib deflection (rare condition) --> see attachement

Therefore, it would be helpful to use different ISO codes for both systems to distinguish between measurements of the 1D and the 2D system.

Proposal:
1D system: current code *DSY*; correct code would be *DSR*, but should not be changed because the system could become obsolete
2D system: proposal: *DS0* (*DSX*, *DSY*, *DSZ*, and *DSR* could be calculated if two additional angles are available: rotation of the sensor about z and x)

Re: Proposed Codes: Shoulder

Post by Paul Wellicome »

In order to be consistent with how ISO/WD 15830-4 references the locations on the shoulder, would it not make more sense in the WS to put the acceleration and displacement on the shoulder rib rather than the shoulder? That is where the instrumentation is actually mounted. We’d then have

??SHRILE00WSACXB Shoulder Rib Left Acceleration X
??SHRILE00WSACYB Shoulder Rib Left Acceleration Y
??SHRILE00WSACZB Shoulder Rib Left Acceleration Z
??SHRILE00WSDSYB Shoulder Rib Left Displacement Y
??SHLDLE00WSFOXB Shoulder Left Force X
??SHLDLE00WSFOYB Shoulder Left Force Y
??SHLDLE00WSFOZB Shoulder Left Force Z
??SHRIRI00WSACXB Shoulder Right Acceleration X
??SHRIRI00WSACYB Shoulder Right Acceleration Y
??SHRIRI00WSACZB Shoulder Right Acceleration Z
??SHRIRI00WSDSYB Shoulder Right Displacement Y
??SHLDRI00WSFOXB Shoulder Right Force X
??SHLDRI00WSFOYB Shoulder Right Force Y
??SHLDRI00WSFOZB Shoulder Right Force Z

On my opinion the 2D-IR-TRACC displacements should be defined with direction '2' (lateral) as this is what is really measured. The X and Y channels are then calculated from measured displacement and the angle for each IR-TRACC.
This is the way we have implemented 2D-IR-TRACCs already in the past.

If you agree on that i would suggest to change the proposed codes accordingly.

Hello ,
are there already proposals for the several Ribeye channels available ?

At least a subset of the overall channels should be integrated to standard WS measurement, but already for front, middle and rear we have no finelocation left to encode this.

Thank you for a hint and best regards,

Frank
