Dear Colleagues,
I would like to propose a new FL1 code:
IS = Impact Sound Sensor
The new CISS sensors (Crash Impact Sound Sensing) measure the acoustic emission of an impact.
The physical dimension of CISS sensor channels is AC.
The signal processing differs from the processing of common acceleration transducers.
To distinguish between the normal acceleration and the CISS signal at the same location we need the new Fine Location.
Similar to the Crash Sensor CS the FL1 seems to be meaningful.
New Fine Location 1 Code "IS"=Impact Sound Sensor

Re: New Fine Location 1 Code "IS"=Impact Sound Sensor
Hi Peter,
I am also not that much familiar with "sound measurement", but is it really an acceleration that is measured?
So it must be the acceleration of the air molecules?
I would believe that the measurement is pressure or something and then this measurement is mathematically processed so that the output is something lich an acceleration?
If the measurement really output AC then AC will be ok.
What is the typical placement for this sensor? If on the vehicle then you might need FL1 and FL2 to describe in detail the location and FL3 might be a better place?
Bye,
Dirk
