New codes for ISO TC22 SC36 WG5 aPLI Pedestrian Legform

.
CellbondATD are part of ISO TC22 SC36 WG5 & 6 developing a new pedestrian impactor that is intended to combine & replace the existing FlexPLI and Upper Leg impactor and provide a more biofidelic response.

The impactor is broadly similar in layout and construction to FlexPLI but also includes a 'Simplified Upper Body Part' assembly that is pivoted at the top of the femur.

We think new ISO codes are required for Main Location (for measurement channels in the upper body part) and a new fine location (for the aPLI)

Our proposal is:
Main location - SUBP - Simplified Upper Body Part [used in Advanced Pedestrian Legform]
Fine location 3 - PM - Advanced Pedestrian Legform aPLI

The standard measurement channel list for this impactor would look like this:

Code: Select all

SUBP Acceleration X       DOSUBPCG00PMACXC
SUBP Acceleration Y       DOSUBPCG00PMACYC
SUBP Acceleration Z       DOSUBPCG00PMACZC
SUBP Angular Velocity X   DOSUBPCG00PMAVXC
SUBP Angular Velocity X   DOSUBPCG00PMAVYC
SUBP Angular Velocity X   DOSUBPCG00PMAVZC
Femur Bending Moment 1    DOFEMRUP00PMMOXC
Femur Bending Moment 2    DOFEMRMI00PMMOXC
Femur Bending Moment 3    DOFEMRLO00PMMOXC
Knee MCL Elongation       DOKNEEOO00PMDSZC
Knee ACL Elongation       DOKNEEOO00PMDSZC
Knee PCL Elongation       DOKNEEOO00PMDSZC
Knee Acceleration Y       DOKNEEOO00PMACYC
Knee Angular Rate X       DOKNEEOO00PMAVXC
Tibia Bending Moment 1    DOTIBIUP00PMMOXC
Tibia Bending Moment 2    DOTIBIMIUPPMMOXC
Tibia Bending Moment 3    DOTIBIMILOPMMOXC
Tibia Bending Moment 4    DOTIBILO00PMMOXC

Please let me know if this proposal is acceptable to ISO / WG3

Thank you

Dear Derek,

thank you for the contribution. We will discuss the codes in the upcomming Task Force Meeting on the 13th on June 2018.

I would propose a change for the SUBP codes:
If the Upper body mass part is located as a pelvis above the Leg we can swithc the Main Location coding to PELV.
This ISO Code part already exists in the database.

If there is no realistic option to mount additional acceleration/anguular velocity measurement on the Upper Body Part,
we might remove the CG?

In the coding tables we keep the filter class (ISO[16]) open, as the channel is recorded with "P".
Still the CFC180 ("C") will be the default filter class for the analysis.

In your codes you have use "DO" (upper case "o") and not "D0" (zero) by mistake.

So the coding could be:

Code: Select all

SUBP Acceleration X       DOSUBPCG00PMACXC -> Upper Body Acceleration X       D0PELV0000PMACX*
SUBP Acceleration Y       DOSUBPCG00PMACYC -> Upper Body Acceleration Y       D0PELV0000PMACY*
SUBP Acceleration Z       DOSUBPCG00PMACZC -> Upper Body Acceleration Z       D0PELV0000PMACZ*
SUBP Angular Velocity X   DOSUBPCG00PMAVXC -> Upper Body Angular Velocity X   D0PELV0000PMAVX*
SUBP Angular Velocity X   DOSUBPCG00PMAVYC -> Upper Body Angular Velocity Y   D0PELV0000PMAVY*
SUBP Angular Velocity X   DOSUBPCG00PMAVZC -> Upper Body Angular Velocity Z   D0PELV0000PMAVZ*
Please feel free to comment/improve this proposal.

Bye,
Dirk

Dear all,

I have included in the database 1.6.2 proposal 3:
1. the "PM" Fine Location 3 code

Code: Select all

PM aPLI Legform Impactor aPLI Beinimpaktor

2. Possible Channels for the given measurements:

Code: Select all

??PELV0000PMACX? Upper Body Acceleration X Oberer Körper Beschleunigung X
??PELV0000PMACY? Upper Body Acceleration Y Oberer Körper Beschleunigung Y
??PELV0000PMACZ? Upper Body Acceleration Z Oberer Körper Beschleunigung Z

??PELV0000PMAVX? Upper Body Angular Velocity X Oberer Körper Winkelgeschwindigkeit X
??PELV0000PMAVY? Upper Body Angular Velocity Y Oberer Körper Winkelgeschwindigkeit Y
??PELV0000PMAVZ? Upper Body Angular Velocity Z Oberer Körper Winkelgeschwindigkeit Z

??FEMRUP00PMMOX? Femur Upper Bending Moment Oberschenkelmoment oben X
??FEMRMI00PMMOX? Femur Middle Bending Moment Oberschenkelmoment Mitte X
??FEMRLO00PMMOX? Femur Lower Bending Moment Oberschenkelmoment unten X

??KNEE0000PMDS0? Knee MCL Elongation Knie MCL-Verlängerung
??KNEE0000PMDS0? Knee ACL Elongation Knie ACL-Verlängerung
??KNEE0000PMDS0? Knee PCL Elongation Knie PCL-Verlängerung

??KNEE0000PMACY?    Knee Acceleration Y				Kniebeschleunigung Y
??KNEE0000PMAVX?    Knee Angular Rate X				Kniewinkelgeschwindigkeit X

??TIBIUP00PMMOX? Tibia Upper Bending Moment X Schienbeinmoment oben X
??TIBIMIUPPMMOX? Tibia Middle Upper Bending Moment X Schienbeinmoment Mitte oben X
??TIBIMILOPMMOX? Tibia Middle Lower Bending Moment X Schienbeinmoment Mitte unten X
??TIBILO00PMMOX? Tibia Lower Bending Moment X Schienbeinmoment unten X

Please comment.
I have changed the direction for ACL, MCL and PCL from DSZ to DS0 as for FlexPLI (PF).
Filter character "C" has been remoded as codes will normally be recorded as "P" (prefiltered).
The "D0" TOB+SP part has been removed as currently for all other codes in the database.

May this will be an option for the future to include "D0" for all "Pedestrian) Impactors as this is the
typically combination used in testing?

The figure for "PM" is still pending.

Bye,
Dirk

Dear all,

from Derek's template I have created 2 figures for discussion.
The new Impactor page 5 holds the aPLI Standard Instrumentation
page 6 the Additional (optional) Instrumentation.
The Standard codes are identical to the codes Dirk has implemented in the database.
The Additional codes are the segment accelerations for tibia and femur, a knee acceleration in X direction
and a triaxial acceleration sensor in the lowest segment of the tibia.

I have changed the numbering of these femur segment accelerations in FineLocation 1
from the knee to the top identical to the FlexPLI notation.
Analog to the FlexPLI I also named the lowest triaxial acceleration to D0TIBIBO00PMAC?
instead of the proposed code D0TIBILO00PMAC?.

The background of the figure is taken from the FlexPLI. This leads to some accelerometer and angular velocity symbols
which seems not to be used. They are still in the figures and also listed in lighter color on page 5.
We have to clarify this measurement positions.

Best regards

Peter
