Re: Chest Deflection - MME 1.6 Revision 2 and MME 2.0
Dear colleagues,
I have prepared a proposal for the future coding of RibEye channels.
As the RibEye software provides additional outputs based on the LED measurements, that should be
equivalent to "IR-TRACC" (or similar) devices, I have added the middle LED with "MI" in FL2.
The 2D calculated channel (Manual 5,2 Section 4.1: Corrected 2D) will correspond to the DSY of the 2D IR-TRACC.
The 1D calculated channel will correspond to a change in length of the IR-TRACC itself: DS0
This is generated in order to provide the right input for the Dummy certification routines, that uses the direct
change in length of the device.
All modified/added text parts in violet colour.
I need to redesign the code examples to fit on the page.
As always, feedback is welcome.
Kind regards,
Dirk

Re: Chest Deflection - MME 1.6 Revision 2 and MME 2.0
Dear Colleagues,
there has been a clever comment by BMW on the LED codes for the middle thoracis rib:
As we already have a
LM = Left Middle
RM = Right Middle
code in the database for File Location 1 (intended for Human Models, but who cares ), we should use this as a consistent coding with the upper and the lower ribs.
So for Thoracic Ribs the coding will then be:
Left Side Impact:
Right Side Impact:

Re: Chest Deflection - MME 1.6 Revision 2 and MME 2.0
Dear colleagues,
meanwhile we received a statement from Boxboro for the implementation of the proposed codes in the RibEye software:
Also here we got positive response:
In my oppinion this is similar to what we already have for the IR-TRACC (or equivalent devices):
Here we code the "change in length" with DS0.
So my proposal is, to use this concept also also with the RibEye distances for the LED's.
As the LED codes are unique this should be a distinct definition.
So my proposal is for the change in length/distance:
As always, all comments are welcome.
By the way: Many thanks to Boxboro (and MG-Sensor) for the quick response and cooperative implementation
of the proposed codes.
Kind regards,
Dirk
meanwhile we received a statement from Boxboro for the implementation of the proposed codes in the RibEye software:
I have asked to post the statement here and for a standard configuration file with ISO MME conform coding in the future.Yes, we can support different ISO channel codes for the WorldSID for Left and Right side mounting.
In the current version of the RibEye software the user can set the Main Location, Fine Position 1 and Fine Position 2 of the ISO channel odes in the RibEye.INI file.
The part of the INI file for the WorldSID ISO codes is shown below.
The next release of the software will have two sections for the WorldSID ISO codes, one for the RibEye mounted on the dummy left side and one for the RibEye mounted on the dummy right side. The program will automatically switch which ISO code set it uses depending on the “RibEye Pointed to Dummy” Right or Left side setting on the RibEye main screen, allowing the users to set up different channel codes for left and Right side operation.
I have attached a full copy of the current RibEye INI file. The INI file can be edited by the user and is stored in the C:\Program Files (x86)\RibEye_5.3 W10 directory on your PC.
Also see the RibEye Software User Manual 5.3-19 Oct 2017. If you don’t have the manual you can download from the RibEye tab of the Boxboro Systems website ( www.boxborosystems.com ).
Figure 4 on page 11 shows the software screen with the “RibEye Pointed to Dummy” setting.
Section 2.6 on page 12 describes the current operations using the “RibEye Pointed to Dummy” setting.
Section 2.7 starting on page 13 describes the iso code settings.
I have been working on the next software release, and I expect to release it this summer.
WorldSID iso code settings part of RibEye.ini file from current software:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; For the dummies listed below you can set Main Location,
; Fine Position 1 and Fine Position 2 - CCCC DD EE
; only put in 8 characters for each LED, with spaces between the sections as shown
;YOU MUST PUT IN EXACLY 8 CHARACTERS!!!!
;
; WorldSID ISO codes are used for both WorldSID 50th and WorldSID 5th Female
[WorldSID]
Shoulder Rib Rear LED = SHRI 01 RE
Shoulder Rib Middle LED = SHRI 01 MI
Shoulder Rib Front LED = SHRI 01 FR
:
Thorax 1 Rib Rear LED = TRRI 01 RE
Thorax 1 Rib Middle LED = TRRI 01 MI
Thorax 1 Rib Front LED = TRRI 01 FR
;
Thorax 2 Rib Rear LED = TRRI 02 RE
Thorax 2 Rib Middle LED = TRRI 02 MI
Thorax 2 Rib Front LED = TRRI 02 FR
;
Thorax 3 Rib Rear LED = TRRI 03 RE
Thorax 3 Rib Middle LED = TRRI 03 MI
Thorax 3 Rib Front LED = TRRI 03 FR
;
Abdomen 1 Rib Rear LED = ABRI 01 RE
Abdomen 1 Rib Middle LED = ABRI 01 MI
Abdomen 1 Rib Front LED = ABRI 01 FR
;
Abdomen 2 Rib Rear LED = ABRI 02 RE
Abdomen 2 Rib Middle LED = ABRI 02 MI
Abdomen 2 Rib Front LED = ABRI 02 FR"
Also here we got positive response:
In the answer there was a second statement:Yes, the ISO team can post the text as a statement from Boxboro Systems as
well as the statement below.
We can also support the changes you requested for the 1D and 2D IR Tracc
calculations for saving data in the ISO MME format.
We can also make a standard INI file for the ISO MME format that the users
can select during software installation, and document it in the software
user's manual.
This will address the current output with an "L" in the direction code (ISO[15]).Note that in addition to the 1D and 2D IR Tracc calculations, the software
includes a calculation for Length Change for all 18 LEDs. This calculation
was developed by NHTSA and is described in the software user's manual (see
section 4.2 on page 34). The length change channels will use the same ISO
codes as shown in your attachment as Optional Channels (LEDS) but with the
Axis code set to "L" as is currently done in the software."
Code: Select all
SHRI LE RE/MI/FR WS DS 0
TRRI LU RE/MI/FR WS DS 0
TRRI LM RE/MI/FR WS DS 0
TRRI LL RE/MI/FR WS DS 0
ABRI LU RE/MI/FR WS DS 0
ABRI LL RE/MI/FR WS DS 0
By the way: Many thanks to Boxboro (and MG-Sensor) for the quick response and cooperative implementation
of the proposed codes.
Kind regards,
Dirk

Dear colleagues,
here you find the official final version of the chest deflection figures.
In the documents from 17.06.2020 on pages 1 and 2 the Note text had to be updated:
change of MTRAC to TRAC for 1dimensional cases
Please use the version 20201125 with the bugfixes.
